  Enter Woolf's London to explore Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs. Dalloway by walking the streets of 1920s London alongside her characters, using photos, maps, and other sources from the period as your guide. Designed by Todd Kuchta.

Dicken's London is a portal to 19th Century London as seen through the eyes of Charles Dicken's characters from several novels, including Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, and Bleak House. Designed by Todd Bannon.

  Gatsby's American Dream allows students in groups of four acting as "shades" of the novel's characters to reexamine places and events from the novel. Designed by Meghan Dykema.

The Immutable Hill offers a foray into the romantic intrigue and political euphemism that is Joan Didion's Democracy. Explore the novel's setting, historical backdrop, and Didion's idiosyncratic style. Designed by Jon Adams.

  Island Barrio takes you into the world of a Puerto Rican community in New York and on the island, based on the collection of stories An Island Like You by Judith Ortiz Cofer. Designed by Gwen Tarbox.

  Lord of the Flies a recreation of the island where the boys are lost. Allows for role play and writing in character. Designed by Cara Arver.

In Moll's World, explore Daniel Defoe's Moll Flanders and its intersections with eighteenth-century British culture. Designed by Cynthia Klekar.

  In Mice, Men and Migrant Labor, compare and contrast migrant labor experience in Stenbeck's famous novel set in 1930s California with Mexican-American migrant labor today. Designed by Gretchen Voskuil.

In Middangeard students can explore the worldviews and experiences suggested by Anglo-Saxon poetry and investigate objects (artifacts, manuscripts) of Anglo-Saxon material culture. Designed by Ilse Schwietzer.


Midsummer Madness, students take on the role of characters in one of Shakespeare's most delightful works, A Midsummer Night's Dream. Designed by Joe Haughey.

  Seafarer is created by Kevin Jepson to display and test experimental pogramming in the enCore environment at Literary Worlds. It has a 19th century seacoast theme -- visit anytime by taking the Shelter Bay link from the Welcome Center.

  Virtual Tempest allows students to interact as characters lost on a desert island haunted by magical forces, a role play stage, virtual museum and live action game. Designed by Tim Heacock, Jennifer Barnes, and Allen Webb.

Thoughtcrime, a game of political intrigue based in the frightening world of Orwell's 1984. Designed by Robert Rozema.


Village of Umuofia, based on Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart, incorporates an archive of black and white images of Ibo villages and traditional music with a live action role play where students become characters interacting as traditional Africans and arriving British colonizers. Designed by Allen Webb.

  In Wild Irish explore the historical and political issues in the relation of Ireland and England as examined in Lady Morgan Sydney Owenson's novel The Wild Irish Girl: A National Tale (1806). Designed by Chris Nagle.
