The ceiling camera and microphone system in Brown classrooms 3037 and 3045, operated from the 3041 observation and preparation room, offers an easy to record classroom events and evaluate teacher and student performance. -Under this menu, you can select a display input. Either showing the display from one of the four DVD panels, or any of the Mac’s in the central computer labs.
-It is not necessary to use the Plasma monitor to record on the DVD decks, but it is possible to use the Plasma display and the touch panel monitor simultaneously.

-Touch “Back to Main Menu,” and select “Touch Panel Monitor”
-The Touch Panel Monitor menu will offer several options and two simultaneous displays. -Each room camera has two corresponding recording decks. The decks are labeled by room on the monitor.

-There is also the DVD-R control, and the Camera Control.
-Selecting the Camera Control menu along with a room camera puts you in control of the camera.
-The arrow keys enable movement of the camera to focus on any location in the room, including the space directly below the camera.
-Tapping or holding the + and - buttons allow you to control zoom.
-During recording, you may find the need to quickly change camera angles and zoom. The camera’s programmable presets allow for this.

-To program presets, set camera to desired angle and zoom level and hold the preset buttons you’d like to set. At the same time, hold any one of the arrow keys until the preset button is highlighted. The Preset is now programmed.

Using a DVD-R or DVD-RW to record

-For simple classroom recording, select “DVD-R Control” and a desired room camera DVD deck. Make sure to select
-First, insert a blank DVD-R or DVD-RW into the selected deck and wait for the deck to format the disc. This will take a moment, as indicated by progress bar that will now be displayed
-Depending on which recordable DVD format you are using, you will either be able to directly record onto a DVD-R, by pressing the record button, which will format the recording for use on normal DVD players, after which the recording will appear on a disc menu where its details can be edited, but it cannot be overwritten.
-A DVD-RW works in much the same way, but you will have the option to overwrite previous recordings as desired.

For Recording direct to the hard drive:
-Follow the steps above to open a camera input and a DVD-R deck.

-Select “DVD-R Controls,”

-Push the button labeled “HDD.” You will now be recording directly to the internal hard drive of the DVD-R deck you have selected.

-Once you have made your recording, insert a blank DVD-R or DVD-RW and push the button labeled “Direct.”

-Select “HDD to DVD,”

-From here, you can select which individual recordings you would like to dub onto your disc by selecting the desired recordings with the arrow keys and then selecting “Dubbing Start”

-Alternatively, you can dub from a DVD to the hard drive by selecting, “DVD to HDD” and following the same process.

-Please note that Dubbing is the not the same as copying a movie file on your computer (Where it might only take a few minutes). The dub will play the file and record it to the disc or hard drive simultaneously, so if you have a 10 minute video recording, it will take 10 minutes to dub, an hour recording will take an hour to dub and so on.
