5.1 Command Lines That Receive Special Treatment

As was mentioned in the chapter on command parsing, there are a number of commands and special prefixes whose interpretation is fixed by the server. Examples include the flush command and the five intrinsic commands (PREFIX, OUTPUTPREFIX, SUFFIX, OUTPUTSUFFIX, and .program).

This section discusses all of these built-in pieces of the command-interpretation process in the order in which they occur.
