Sunrise over Fallujah by Walter Dean Myers young adult novel that addresses the experience of American troops in Iraq (grades 9-12).

Under the Persimmon Tree by Suzanne Fisher Staples is set in Afghanistan at the time of the American invasion after 9/11 (grades 7-9).

Pride of Baghdad by Brian Vaughan and Niko Hernichon, a disturbing graphic novel depicting the fate of lions in the Baghdad zoo after the American invasio (grades 9-12).

In this clip from the Showtime version of This American Life, Ira Glass interviews Haider Hamza, an Iraqi who travels around the United State, particularly the Midwest and the south, discussing Iraq with American citizens. “Ask an Iraqi” puts a human face on the Iraq’s citizens, an dispels many of the misperceptions that students may have about Iraq.

The clip Collateral Murder posted by WikiLeaks is filmed from an American helicopter. The killing of civilians, and the callus comments of the American soldiers makes it sound like a video game.

The documentary Iraq for Sale deals with corporations who have contracts in Iraq. The video explains that soldiers are not the only ones in harms way. Civilian employees are often put in extremely dangerous positions after being promised high pay and safety.
